12:10pm: 🌟 Keynote Presentation | Ashley Stewart, EveryLibrary

The Heart of Library Work: Balancing Service, Compassion, and Self-Care

Library work is people work. It is filled with purpose, compassion, and connection, but also emotional demands and pressures that can quietly lead to burnout. In this keynote presentation, Ashley Stewart from EveryLibrary invites library staff to pause, reflect, and reconnect with why their work matters. Together, we’ll explore practical strategies for sustaining energy, setting healthy boundaries, and finding renewed meaning and joy in serving others... because caring for yourself is an essential part of caring for your community.



Ashley Stewart - EveryLibraryAshley Stewart is the Campaign Strategist at EveryLibrary and former Director of the Caseyville Public Library District in Illinois. She was an elected Trustee for the Collinsville Township and served on the advisory council for Madison County’s Community Services Block Grant during her four-year term. She recently served on the Illinois Library Association’s Committee for Public Library Standards.

In addition to her work in libraries and public service, Ashley is a member of the American Association of Political Consultants and brings experience as a political consultant and advisor. She has worked on candidate campaigns and served on several local boards and committees. She graduated from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville with both a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Social Work.

12:40pm: On-Demand Circulation of Microsoft Licenses with LibCal | Justin Sanchez, Greenburgh Public Library

Learn how Greenburgh Public Library built a system that lets patrons “check out” Microsoft 365, just like a museum pass. Using LibCal bookings, Microsoft Graph API, and a little AI coding help, they automated license assignment and revocation – expanding digital access without heavy IT support.

Justin Sanchez - Greenburgh Public Library-1Justin Sanchez is a librarian at the Greenburgh Public Library and loves to leverage technology to make workflows easier for everyone. He graduated from Queens College in 2020 and joined the team at Greenburgh in 2021. He oversees the Library of Things, which includes items such as hotspots, laptops, museum passes, streaming devices, and tablets. In addition, Justin also teaches and coordinates digital literacy instruction in group and one-on-one settings.

Today's job market is increasingly difficult to navigate, and libraries provide critical assistance to students and jobseekers in search of trustworthy information. Hear from Noah Simon, Director of Career and Professional Development at the University at Albany, as he shares how their institution is leveraging Springshare's CareerShift to support students with job searching, networking, and career exploration. This presentation will explore how this all-in-one job search and career management tool can help libraries empower students to navigate the modern job market – and how libraries can collaborate with career services to provide access to this essential tool.

Noah Simon - University at Albany-1With 25 years of experience providing career services in both academic and private sectors, Noah Simon currently serves as the Director of Career and Professional Development at the University at Albany. In this role, he manages and oversees the office that provides the full gamut of career development services to undergraduate, graduate, and alumni; serves as a University Faculty Expert to promote the activities of the Career and Professional Development office; and maintains and cultivates relationships with employers and alumni to enhance opportunities for current and former students.

1:55pm: Panel: Streamlining LibGuides Updates with AI Tools | Sheila Brandt, Melissa Feinberg, Stacey von Winckelmann, Seth Allen

Join us for a panel discussion about updating LibGuides with assistance from AI tools with librarians from Fayetteville Technical Community College, MiraCosta College, and University of Montevallo. Learn how they took advantage of these tools to fill gaps in their expertise in order to streamline updates for improved styling and accessibility.

Sheila Brandt - University of Montevallo-1Sheila Brandt, Ed.D., University of Montevallo, has a diverse professional background which began in K-12 schools as a librarian, technology contact, web manager, and district library coordinator. Outside of libraries, she has experience as an instructional designer. In her current role as a Systems Librarian in an academic library, Sheila supports a variety of applications including Springshare, Koha, EZproxy, and DSpace. As the website manager, she is constantly seeking ways to improve the library’s online presence, including exploring the potential of AI.

Melissa Feinberg - MiraCosta College-1Melissa Feinberg is an Associate Faculty Librarian at Palomar College and MiraCosta College, where she manages MiraCosta Library's web presence and leads social media outreach and marketing efforts. With a background in user experience, web design, and accessibility, she is dedicated to creating inclusive and engaging online learning experiences. Her work focuses on developing custom-coded LibGuides and instructional materials in collaboration with faculty to enhance student success. Melissa holds an MLIS from San José State University.

Stacey von Winckelmann - MiraCosta College-1Stacey von Winckelmann is an Associate Librarian at Palomar College and MiraCosta College, where she focuses on information literacy, online learning, and the development of accessibility and instructional resources related to AI. She’s passionate about designing inclusive, visually engaging LibGuides that make research approachable and empower learners. Stacey earned her MLS from Texas Woman’s University and her Ed.D. in Learning Analytics from National University, where her research examined racial bias programmed into predictive algorithms used in higher education.

Seth Allen - Fayetteville Technical Community College-1Seth Allen is Assistant Director of Library Services and Archivist at Fayetteville Technical Community College, where he leads initiatives in digital collections, web design, and library outreach. He is currently pursuing a Doctor of Social Leadership at Omega Graduate School, focusing on how technology and design can enhance learning and engagement in higher education. Beyond his work in academic libraries, Seth serves as a board member, webmaster, and docent for the historic Mill Prong House, helping preserve and share local history through digital storytelling and public engagement.

In this session, you'll learn how Texas A&M University's Zachry Labs used Springshare products – LibCal, LibWizard, and LibInsight – to seamlessly connect with Microsoft Azure, Zapier, or any automation toolkit using APIs and serverless automation.

Justin Gonzalez - Texas A&M University-1Justin Gonzalez is a Prototyping Technician at Texas A&M University’s College of Engineering – Zachry Labs, where he oversees 3D printing, laser cutting, and fabrication operations for the Fischer Engineering Design Center. Beyond the lab floor, Justin develops workflow automations and systems integrations connecting Springshare tools with Microsoft Azure and other platforms. His work focuses on bridging digital systems and physical spaces to make academic technology more seamless and accessible.

Bailey Hollis - Texas A&M University-1Bailey Hollis is a Student Technician at Texas A&M University's College of Engineering and a senior majoring in Computer Engineering. In this role, Bailey operates lab equipment and supports a variety of internal engineering projects. Over the past year, Bailey worked alongside Justin to automate power controls for lab stations using LibCal, ensuring both accurate attendance tracking and significant power savings.
