12:10pm: 🌟 Keynote Presentation | Cordelia Anderson, Library Marketing & Communications Consultant

Reconnecting the Library Through Email Marketing

Email remains one of the most powerful ways to strengthen relationships, showcase impact, and remind your audiences why the library matters. In this keynote, library marketing consultant Cordelia Anderson will explore how academic libraries can create meaningful, story-driven email communication that builds engagement and visibility. You’ll learn how to “re-onboard” existing users, collaborate across departments, and craft messages that connect across audiences – faculty, staff, students, and even the broader community. Expect both inspiration and practical strategies to help your library’s messages matter more – and make a lasting impression in the inbox.

Since launching Cordelia Anderson Consulting in 2018, she has worked with a variety of public and academic libraries, library organizations, and others to develop marketing plans, brand identities, and strategic plans. 1:20pm: LibCal Unlocked: Using the API to Improve Service for Library Users | Drew Schurr, University of Tennessee at Chattanooga

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Library uses LibCal to manage 36 group study rooms and 18 meeting/classrooms. During the 2024-2025 academic year, these rooms had over 39,000 reservations for almost 5000 unique users (over 40% of the total student population).

Because of a custom integration between LibCal and the campus cardswipe system, library patrons no longer have to wait in line for room keys and library employees are able to concentrate on the many other services the library provides – resulting in shorter lines, less harried desk staff, and a better experience for everyone. This presentation will address both the technical process and the human impact of using the LibCal API to improve the user experience on both sides of the checkout desk.

1:50pm: Finding Our Way: Mapping the Libraries with LibMaps | Margaret Heller & Keith Engwall, DePaul University

DePaul University Library moved to LibMaps in the summer of 2025, knowing that it would be a great move even though they were early adopters. Previously, they had only interactively mapped the collections, but they knew wayfinding to other physical spaces was a major need. Building on work they had done to improve how Spaces were described in LibCal, they worked collaboratively across locations to understand how to translate their physical footprint into maps that would make sense to their users. This presentation will share the process, lessons learned, and the next steps for integrating LibMaps on touchscreen monitors around the library.
